Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures. McCain Abandons the Inexperienced Argument to Suck-up to Women Voters and Right-Wing Conservative Christians.

Of both Vice Presidential candidates, McCain’s is truly a heartbeat away from the Presidency because McCain is such an old geezer. So, let’s talk about the truly inexperienced and unprepared. That would be the LESS THAN TWO YEARS Governor of a state whose entire state population would be lost on the island of Manhattan! At 44 y/o Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska is a complete and total rookie.

Gimmie a break. This was truly an act of desperation by McSame and the GOP. Good grief GrandPa!

Perhaps McCain was attracted to Palin because like McCain's Keating 5 episode, Palin has her own controversy, per Wikipedia:

Commissioner dismissal controversy

On July 11, 2008, Governor Palin dismissed Walter Monegan as Commissioner of Public Safety and instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which he subsequently turned down.[44][45] Monegan alleged shortly after his dismissal that it may have been partly due to his reluctance to fire an Alaska State Trooper, Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a divorce and child custody battle with Palin's sister, Molly McCann.[46] In 2006, before Palin was governor, Wooten was briefly suspended for ten days for threatening to kill McCann's (and Palin's) father, tasering his 11-year-old stepson (at the stepson's request), and violating game laws. After a union protest, the suspension was reduced to five days.[47]

Governor Palin asserts that her dismissal of Monegan was unrelated to the fact that he had not fired Wooten, and asserts that Monegan was instead dismissed for not adequately filling state trooper vacancies, and because he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues."[48] Palin acknowledges that a member of her administration, Frank Bailey, did contact the Department of Public Safety regarding Wooten, but both Palin and Bailey say that happened without her knowledge and was unrelated to her dismissal of Monegan.[48] Bailey was put on leave for two months for acting outside the scope of his authority as the Director of Boards and Commissions. At least one news report (Alaska's KVTA Channel 11) noted that Commissioner Monegan received no severance pay, though oddly another dismissed Commissioner, Charles Kopp, who served only 11 days received $10,000, implying some animus on Palin's part toward Monegan (http://www.ktva.com/ci_10195264).

In response to Palin's statement that she had nothing to hide, in August 2008 the Alaska Legislature hired Steve Branchflower to investigate Palin and her staff for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal, though lawmakers acknowledge that "Monegan and other commissioners serve at will, meaning they can be fired by Palin at any time."[49] The investigation is being overseen by Democratic State Senator Hollis French, who says that the Palin administration has been cooperating and thus subpoenas are unnecessary.[50] The Palin administration itself was the first to release an audiotape of Bailey making inquiries about the status of the Wooten investigation.[48][51]

Or, perhaps McCain was attracted to Palin's involvement with the OIL & GAS 'bidness'! I mean hey, ya can't be a real Republican unless you get your palms greased! Palin was Alaska Oil and Gas Commissioner.

Or, maybe womanizer McCain just thinks that Palin is a hottie because Palin was a runner-up in the Miss Alaska pagent and maybe too, because she was a runner-up he figures she's used to playing 2nd-team.

Or, maybe McCain figures that the fact that Palin has produced like a Pez dispenser [5 kids?] that will insure McCain of the Mommy vote?

Palin is a mother of five -- including a newborn with special needs -- which led many people to speculate that she would not ultimately be the pick. During an interview with washingtonpost.com earlier this year in Washington, Palin said being picked as the vice president was an "impossibility" --WaPo

Hmmm, looks, sounds and smells like a FLIP-FLOP ... just like GrandPa McCain!

Jefferson Warned Us

  • "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation then by deflation, the banks and the corporations will grow up around them, will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."--Thomas Jefferson

War

  • "I like guys who've never been there that criticize us who've been there. I like that. I like guys who got five deferments and never been there and send people to war, and then don't like to hear suggestions about what needs to be done."--John Murtha Congressman (D-PA) -------
"War is a rackett"--Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, United States Marine Corps, 1881 - 1940, Double recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
    I'm inclined to agree.--DA
    -------
"Many of those who want to rush this country into war and think it would be so quick and easy don't know anything about war. They come at it from an intellectual perspective, versus having sat in jungles or foxholes and watched their friends get their heads blown off."--Republican Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska
    -------
"We're in Bush country," Bradach said. "There will be a lot of detractors, people saying we aren't patriots. I'd like to know what they've given up.

There is no way our children died in vain, not if we pay attention, not if we learn. I'm proud of my son. I love the Marines. And I'm very much against this war and always have been.

I guess our children went and were sacrificed for us to take a look at what we let happen. We let this war happen. If nothing else, this is a huge lesson. Watch who you vote for. Watch what they're telling you. Don't be so afraid."
--Lynn Bradach, mother of a fallen American Hero, from Oregon, in support of Cindy Sheehan
