Truth, Justice, and the American Way ...
There are a couple of reports in today's news that highlight the wrong-headed hypocrisy in American government ... lemme correct that; there are probably a few thousand news reports which accomplish that really, but the two I refer to are out there ... on the *bleeding edge*.
First off, there is some little orphan kid in Vietnam with some health problems that could be addressed by American medical expertise, but the geniuses that run the federal gubbermint won't let this kid have the necessary legal paperwork to come to America for emergency surgery.
Even with signed requests from a couple of red-state Republican Senators the paper-pushers at Immigrations and Customs aren't having any of it. Here is the kind of dung coming out of those mouths, in both written response, and recent statements to those trying to assist the kid:

Two months later, the Kargeses received a brief letter rejecting a humanitarian waiver. The only reason cited by Kenneth Leutbecker, director of the humanitarian office, is that the application "appears designed to circumvent or shortcut normal immigrant visa processing requirements."
Carl Rusnok, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said the waivers are granted sparingly: More than 6,700 applications were received between Jan. 2000 and last Oct. 6, and 1,465 _ about 20 percent _ were approved after reviews by two separate officers and their supervisor.
Rusnok declined to say why Tuan's case was not deemed an urgent humanitarian matter, saying he was not allowed to discuss specific cases. "Humanitarian parole isn't just given to everybody who requests it," he said. [SOURCE]

There is an old saying that: "better to beg forgiveness, than ask permission". So here is my suggestion to those seeking to assist this little 6 y/o orphan ...
- Ask those same assholes in Immigration & Customs for permission to take flight-lessons at some Florida flight school, and your in like flint.
- I hear there is a well lit, tunnel running underground between Tijuana Mexico and California that is so big it has it's own rail line ... just bring some pot for a ticket/pass.
- Tell the folks at Immigrations & Customs that you know how to pick lettuce or clean Wal-Mart stores for almost nothing and you're in like flint.
- Or, if you can swipe some hotel towels, robe, say that you are really from someplace where there is lots of oil, and pretend you'd like to buy up some of America, you'll not only get right in, but you probably will net an invitation to stay at the White House!
I wonder if any Blog readers out there have thought to look-up the phone numbers for these two cocktail weenies:
Carl Rusnok, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Kenneth Leutbecker, director of the humanitarian office.
... and ring 'em up to tell 'em what fine public servants we all think they represent? Sheez.
Next on my list of WTF stories is this bit outta Colorado (red state, of course):
Colo. Teacher Punished for Bush Comment
By Associated PressAURORA, Colo. - About 150 high school students walked out of class to protest a decision to put a teacher on leave while they investigate remarks he made about President Bush in class, including that some people compare Bush to Adolf Hitler.
The protest came Thursday as administrators began investigating whether Overland High School teacher Jay Bennish violated a policy requiring balancing viewpoints in the classroom, Cherry Creek School District spokeswoman Tustin Amole said.
"It was peaceful. The students yelled, but there was no fighting," Amole said. "Most of them did return to class."
A telephone number listed for Bennish, who has been teaching social studies and American history at Overland since 2000, had been disconnected.
Sophomore Sean Allen recorded about 20 minutes of Bennish's class during a Feb. 1 discussion about Bush's State of the Union speech and gave the recording to his father, who complained to the principal, Amole said.
"After listening to the tape, it's evident the comments in the class were inappropriate. There were not adequate opportunities for opposing points of view," she said.
Deborah Fallin, spokeswoman for the Colorado Education Association, which represents about 37,000 union teachers, said it will not represent Bennish because he is not a member, but said that Bennish has hired an attorney. [SOURCE]
I have sumptin' to say to "Sophomore Sean Allen" 's Daddy (whose kid is a weasel rat-bastard, and Nazi-in-training): Fuck you Mr. Allen, and the horse you rode in on. George W. Bush is actually the second coming of Adolph Hitler. There ya go muther fucker. Ya wanna challenge MY right to that bit of freedom of speech? Well do ya punk? Listen shit-for-brains, 66% of America thinks Bush blows, get over it.
Again, I wonder if any Blog readers have Mr. Allen (and his weasel kid's) contact info.? Hmmm? Seems the teach had to disconnect his, maybe the favor should be returned, aye?

So what's the opposing point of view to the observation that some people compare Bush to Hitler? That some people don't?

Seems to me that the phrase "The American Way" doesn't always have positive connotations the way it has at times in our past.
